When I was a young adult, in my early 20s, I decided I wanted to have a home birth.

It started out simply as “OMG, I hate IVs and the thought of having one of those in my hand while I’m trying to push out a baby just ain’t working out.”

I didn’t know a whole lot about it, other than my friend’s mom was a home birth midwife, so it had to be somewhat safe and worth looking into.

When I actually got pregnant at 30, I started announcing that I’d be having a home birth.

I’m not sure why the initial reaction I always get for the “extraordinary” things I do is disbelief as in, “Yeah, I’m SO sure she’ll say no to painkillers when she actually goes into labor,” but of course, that’s what they said.

And the next thing they did was try to talk me out of it.

They said I was crazy. That I would change my mind. That I would ask for an epidural. That I would howl like a monkey. (Okay, maybe I made that last one up…)

Well, guess what happened? I had a home birth. Because I decided that’s what I was gonna do.

It was a dream and I was determined to make it happen.

I did my part. I researched. I saved up the money. I hired the help I needed. I did something “extraordinary” because I first decided, then planned, then took action.

It’s really THAT simple. While you can’t control outcomes, you can control what YOU do.

Decide. Plan. Take Action.

I’ve started to notice how people all around us (even if they think they have our best intentions at heart) can be REALLY discouraging.

Why do people say things to discourage our dreams and goals?

I’m not sure if they think it’s because they’re looking out for us or they’re searching for something to say, so they fall back on what everyone else said to THEM, but it’s really GOT to stop.

You might be saying negative things without even REALIZING it!

One of those discouraging sentiments I hear all the time is this one: “Don’t get your hopes up! Be reasonable about your goals.”

But I ask– WHY?

Why do we have to be reasonable about our goals?

WHY shouldn’t we get our hopes up?

What’s going to happen if we do?

It’s basically someone’s way of telling you to stay mediocre, ORDINARY because you’ll never get there.

What if Albert Einstein had “been reasonable, ordinary?” What if he had not “gotten his hopes up?” I think you know the answer.

In this world, most people have been so jaded & disillusioned that they can’t understand how YOU can believe. They can’t grasp why YOU would want to be more.

They can’t see what’s really possible.

So remember, it’s important for you as an entrepreneur to plug into resources like this to stay ENCOURAGED. The more you strive for what you’re truly capable of, the more people YOU will in turn, inspire!

We need people like you in this world– the unreasonable ones; the dreamers; the ones full of hope… the EXTRAORDINARY.

Being extraordinary does NOT mean that you think you were born to be better than others.

It means you are CHOOSING what’s right for you instead of just accepting the status quo society hands you.

And that’s what you’re blessed to do every day in your business!

You deserve more. So go get it.
