Wipe your feet off on the mat, pull up a chair and chill. I totally wanna help you get the gold medal when you’re diving into the Instagram pool. Let’s get ready to make some minor changes that will create MAJOR results!
Instagram does NOT have to be hard, nor does it have to be a mystery to figure out. My biggest goal is to save you the COUNTLESS hours of time & energy that I spent to learn it. Heed the advice of someone who’s already made all the mistakes so YOU don’t have to!
I used to follow all the guidance my company and upline gave me, trusting they had my best interest at heart.
Then one day, I was at the beach with my family, on vacation, trying to relax, but I just couldn’t… because I was overwhelmed and upset that I wasn’t further along than I felt I should be, and I realized I was missing something in my efforts.It wasn’t that I didn’t want “it” BADLY enough (like they scolded me countless times.) Or that I didn’t talk to “enough” people (because BELIEVE ME, I was telling everyone.)
It’s that what my company was telling me to do was for the masses and NOT for my personal success. And frankly, my upline didn’t know anything about social media at the time besides basically telling everyone to blast spammy messages to anyone who was looking. So I was really on my own and feeling awfully alone in my journey to uncover what the top reps in my company were doing on social media to propel them to the top.
The moment I found out and started using all the REAL Instagram secrets + strategies is when signing up customers suddenly became EASY.
Now, I want to share with you some basic tips that may seem really simple, but if you want to get your Instagram account looking like a beacon of light amongst a sea of spammy direct sellers, implement the upcoming tips TODAY!
1. Make sure your Instagram profile is NOT set to PRIVATE.
I can’t tell you the amount of direct sales reps that have made this huge mistake. That’s like me, setting up a new shop in town and leaving the lights off, doors locked & windows shut 24/7. Then you find me sitting there wondering, “Why isn’t anyone coming into my shop?” Duh. If you’re worried about privacy? Well, just don’t post anything you wouldn’t want the world to see. 😉 That’s Social Media 101.
2. Don’t post about 2 businesses on one account.
You need to really get known for ONE thing, so people think of YOU FIRST when they think of the product or the result you’re providing. I personally don’t think it’s wise to have a split focus and try to build two businesses at once, but if you must, please do 2 separate accounts for them unless the products somehow can come together into a mashup cohesive brand. Generally, though, if you have 2 companies on one page, people are going to get confused really quickly and they will probably NOT follow you because your profile will look like a giant storefront. Not cool.
3. Keep it FUN.
I absolutely advocate for you to know all the amazing stuff about your company and products and I want you to be fully able to share your knowledge, but remember: people come to Instagram to have fun, be inspired (or at the very least entertained) and look at pretty things. They want a glimpse of who you truly are, what your life is like, things you share from the heart. What they don’t want? 4.*BONUS TIP!* Use my 1:6 ratio rule.
Let every post you make be catered to your ideal audience and be sure that 1 in every 6 posts is a DIRECT PROMO for what you do, where you ask your audience to take the next step by clicking the link in your bio to contact you. You can even use a P.S. CTA (call-to-action) at the end of most of the OTHER posts on your profile like I did here.
So, bottom line: when you share your stuff, tell a story. Or give a testimony. Or talk about how your day was freed up because you didn’t have to work as many hours at your job because your business is saving you! THOSE are the kinds of posts that will attract quality prospects.
People buy from other people they know, like & trust. And if they can see YOU as a real person with a real life, they’ll be way more likely to buy something you recommend when the time is right.
